Today more than ever, hospitals, EMS providers, pharmaceutical and other healthcare organizations face the increasing challenge of providing higher quality patient care while reducing operating costs.  Medical vending units are the latest developments to help healthcare organisations and professionals meet those challenges.  Vending units are not just restricted to supplying sweets, crisp, and sugary beverages. Their application are been widened to include medical and pharmaceutical supplies such as scrubs, uniforms, prescription drugs, tools and equipment.

Intelligent Dispensing Solutions, in partnership with Aubren limited are offering intelligent vending machines to combat inventory shrinkage, maintain safety and sanitation, manage supply access while also increasing the bottom line.  These solution includes ScrubTrak™, an intelligent scrub dispensing solution and UCapIt, a steel locking Controlled Access Pharmaceutical Dispenser (CAP).

From an efficiency perspective, ScrubTrak provides full control over inventory management. Using advanced inventory software and a cloud-based tracking system, ScrubTrak helps medical facilities efficiently manage their scrub supply and ensures that doctors, nurses and techs have a ready supply of scrubs. Personnel can enter a pin number or swipe their employee ID card to access scrubs, and use the same procedure to return items. This simple, rapid procedure reduces cost incurred as a result of hoarding, shortages and unauthorized use.  ScrubTrak also provides the ideal solution in controlling risk of contamination in healthcare organizations.  A constant supply of clean, contagion-free scrubs, encourages medical staff to change as soon as they have any concern about carrying pathogens. The standalone return unit allows greater flexibility in location, enabling ease and speed in exchanging used scrubs.

For managing security, documentation and inventory of controlled substances and equipment, Intelligent Dispensing Solutions formulated UCapIt™. UCapIt™ maintains control and access through security features such ID checks including pin number, proximity card reader, bar code ID scanner and biometric (fingerprint) reader  as well as prompting for station or dispatch specific data. The UCapIt’s IQ software system enables instant access to real-time machine information which can be retrieved from any device with an active web connection.  Though the IQ system, dispensing history can also be aggregated into reports, allowing management to make real-time data-driven decisions on cost and productivity.  Alerts can be sent to key personnel via email, pager or mobile device to warn of low stock level, loss of power or expiration of perishable product – a useful feature in preventing the likelihood distributing substandard or ineffective drugs or substances.

Aubren’s client company Vaventis introduces fresh-r®, a pioneering indoor heat recovery ventilation system for commercial and office application. fresh-r® is perfect for commercial settings. Recent studies by Harvard University shows that sufficiently controlling CO2 concentration within an office environment has a significantly positive impact on crisis response, strategic planning, information processing and focused activity within employees. This means more focused and productive employees which can ultimately lead to increased profitability for the employers.

fresh-r® improves space atmosphere through smart ventilation to make a healthier working environment, while saving energy. Its high efficiency EC backward curved fan and patented heat exchanger expels stale indoor air while simultaneously taking in fresh air from outside.  To save energy, the incoming fresh air is preheated by the outgoing air through the heat exchanger, without mixing the airflows. The installation of fresh-r® is fast and simple with no pipes or ducts needed which makes installing fresh-r® easier than a conventional heat recovery ventilating systems. The intelligent system is Wi-Fi connected allowing management and employees to monitor indoor air quality at their discretion.

Having worked closely with Vaventis in the development of Fresh-r, we are excited by this new venture and look forward to its success in this new market.

Aubren Ltd has partnered with Queen’s University Belfast under the InterTradeIreland Fusion programme to develop smart communication technology for its brand of low temperature radiators, Solo Radiator.

Aubren designs and develops ‘own brand’ and ‘client brand’ air management products into industry sectors including, road transport refrigeration, hospital critical room air handling, telecommunication and IT infrastructure cooling, data centre cooling, heat recovery and ventilation of domestic homes.

Presently, Aubren manufactures and distributes Solo Radiator, a patented fan coil low temperature radiator.  The Solo system which like conventional heating systems is water based.  However, unlike conventional heating, Solo Radiators advanced hydronic terminals utilises small quantities of water at low temperatures and will generate heat when and where needed with no warm up time.  The objective of the Fusion project is to modify Solo Radiators control system for smart communications and to be compatible with globally adapted platforms for home comfort control, reporting and management.  Speaking at the project launch meeting, Aubrey Nuzum, Managing Director of Aubren Ltd. states ‘the programe coincides with our plans for further product development to progress as an innovator in energy efficient heating solutions.  The “connected home market” is ever growing and customers want energy consuming or comfort related devices in the home or indeed any occupied space to be WEB connected, controllable and multifunctional.  Consumers expect that they can monitor and control energy usage and comfort levels from a remote location through an App’.

Jim Fitzsimons, the Fusion consultant for the Solo Radiator project said ‘The Fusion programme facilitates an exciting opportunity to partner academia and industry in an efficient way.   R&D and innovation is at the core of growth for any business but bringing new technologies to life can be costly and not all companies possess the right in house specialist expertise to do so. Fusion provides support by helping to fund a high calibre science or engineering graduate and partnering them with a third level institution with the specific expertise’.  Through the InterTradeIreland Fusion project, Aubren’s Senior Design Engineer, Dr John Tynan will be partnering with Queen’s University Belfast’s Dr Jing Deng and Prof Kang Li.  Critical to this partnership is Prof Kang Li international reputation as a leading scholar on intelligent systems and control with over 25 years research experience on industrial system modelling, control and optimization, with substantial applications to energy and power systems and manufacturing; and Dr Jing Deng rich experience in electronic design, internet of things applications, cloud computing, system and intelligent control.
