Aubren Develops Fan Performance Wind Tunnel
Aubren Limited, specialist contract manufacturer in the design, manufacture and delivery of air management products have developed a fan performance wind tunnel for its clients. Dr John Tynan, Senior Design Engineer at Aubren stated ‘Understanding and calculating the airflow delivered by a fan in a particular assembly is critical to optimising the overall performance of HVAC equipment. To achieve this, laboratory air flow tests are necessary to ensure that the correct fan is selected. Using the fan performance wind tunnel, Aubren’s clients will be able to quantify the precise airflow capacity of their equipment’.
The Aubren fan performance wind tunnel is built to ISO5801 standards. It uses a range of inlet orifice plates to ensure accuracy across a wide range of airflow rates. The auxiliary fan is controlled using an Aubren developed controller with a PID loop. In addition to measuring fan performance, the wind tunnel can also be used calculate filter pressure drop for air handling products.
Aubrey Nuzum, Managing Director at Aubren stated, ‘Aubren is a partner that actively seeks to meet the engineering requirements if its clients. Our team of specialist engineers, designers, fabricators and project managers all have deep expertise in the conditioning, control and monitoring of air within a wide range of applications including data centres, medical/healthcare cleanrooms and residential HVAC. You can be assured that our team will deliver the best possible air management solution for you’.
